Comments:

Do NOT order from R.H. Shumways unless you don't need the seeds until next year. A mailman can WALK from Wisconsin to Ohio faster than Shumway's can deliver their seeds. Their free catalog is a fantastic, tabuloid sized oddity that is illustrated with old-fashioned looking engravings. Some of their offerings are unusual heirlooms, and some seeds are offered in a reduced price if you order x-amount of the same or simular packets. This is a tempting idea, but resist it! Their delivery speed is measured in months, not mere weeks! Maybe they haven't learned of the invention of the TRAIN. Not to mention
the truck, van or plane! Dealing with these guys is a pain!! No pots for THEM! >: P

I’ve read other reviews that said stay away from Shumways, but I think they’ve regrouped. I took a chance ordering from Shumways this year because of all the field corn and unusual and open-pollinated varieties. I got everything I ordered in a timely fashion. It’s the end of June as I write this and all the seeds have had excellent germination, except for the popcorn, which so far is just average germination. I did seed it late however, and it may still be coming up. I’d say give them a try for their interesting varieties.
